Oh So Pretty is a series of events at Silent Cinema, Galway. We are looking for unique silent films from around the world. Then, we are looking for musicians who - we have gut feelings - will sound fantastic accompanying the movie screening.
We organised three concerts so far. You can watch and listen to them on this page (scroll down)!
Your feedback, comments, and suggestions regarding subsequent films and musicians accompanying the screenings are most welcome!

XOANON
A three-piece experimental, improv, and psychedelic band based in Galway City, Ireland. Comprised of Brendan Pooley, Graham Keane, and Antonis Kalamoutsos, Xoanon is an emerging group gearing up to unleash its noisy cinematic sound upon an unsuspecting world. On March 16th, 2024, the band played live while screening the 1928 French silent film The Fall of the House of Usher, directed by Jean Epstein and based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe.
This event was the third in the Oh So Pretty concert series. The soundtrack was audio recorded and combined with the film and published online. Results can be watched and heard in the video above. Please like, share, and subscribe to our YouTube channel!

VITO SPUTNIK
Vito Sputnik is an Argentinean instrumental tango duo formed by Agustina Taborda on bandoneón and Ernesto Inouye on piano. They are part of a new generation of tango musicians from Rosario, which originated with the Orquesta Municipal Escuela de Tango directed by Javier Lo Re. Their repertoire takes up the compositions of the great Orchestras of the first half of the 20th century: Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan D’Arienzo, and Carlos di Sarli, among others. Read more about Vito Sputnik here.
In June 2023, Agustina and Ernesto played a concert at Silent Cinema (watch and listen to the whole concert here). They also accompanied a live screening of an Argentine silent film, La Vuelta al Bulin (Back Home) - a silent short comedy directed by José A. Ferreyra, never before screened in English. You can watch it, and listen to it now (the video above).
